Matter has been announced as

a Finalist for the Earthshot Prize 2025 for its breakthrough Regen® technology—self-cleaning filters that stop microplastic fibres from leaving washing machines and textile facilities and reaching rivers and oceans. The nomination sits under the “Revive Our Oceans” category and recognises Regen’s potential for large-scale impact.

Mansim carried out high-fidelity CFD for Matter, using LES-LBM with rotating impellers, two-phase air–water flow and dispersed particle modelling to de-risk scale-up from household units to industrial systems. The analysis identified scale-dependent effects in flow distribution and capture efficiency, informing design updates and operational limits for higher-throughput versions of the device.

Matter’s finalist profile highlights Regen’s readiness to deploy across homes and factories, complementing recent momentum such as industrial pilots and consumer roll-outs with appliance partners. The Earthshot site notes the solution’s ability to block harmful microplastics at source, while Matter’s own announcement sets out the programme of work ahead.

The Earthshot Prize recognises 15 global finalists each year; five winners are selected at the awards ceremony, receiving funding and support to scale their solutions. Matter is featured among this year’s cohort as a Finalist in Revive Our Oceans.
